PAWKS

APP, BRANDING, & PRODUCT DESIGN

  • Pawks is a dedicated social platform that uses credited information for parks and a pet first direction to make these areas safe and enjoyable for pets and owners.

  • We based our design through secondary market research, various forms of user mapping to create a prototype.

Developed from August 3rd to present.

  • I worked on all aspects of the design from UX to UI.

OBJECTIVE

Create a Social Platform that allows a safe and social environment for Pet & Owner to make new friends.

PROBLEM SPACE

The Pandemic has created a variety of issues with our social lives which has made many people new pet owners, including myself.

This has made Off Leash Areas/Dog Parks essential recreational spaces that gives opportunity for social interaction for your pet to help with their development, but also an open safe area that has the potential structure to include other opportunities for Trainers and a variety of Vendors to potentially use and help their businesses.

Pawks is a social platform designed for pets and owner to enjoy these spaces.

REFLECTIONS

Lessons learned and opportunities with the app.

This being my first case study and UX design gave me a real grasp of the applications used to create a functioning high-fidelity prototype that was able to solve a real world user issue. The Covid-19 Pandemic made this a challenging process but helped me understand how important seeking the User and going through a structured process to identify the issues and opportunities.

The Prototype tested extremely well and that excited some users to ask about other features that could be added like a “swiping” feature for making new “dog friends”.

Another opportunity that was discovered to expand the app would be to make it from a B2C (business to customer) to a B2B2C (business to business to customer) since most of these areas are operate outdoors and publicly there is the possibility for vendors to use these spaces to increase their business while giving city owned space a government revenue also making the app capable of taking in a revenue while providing a platform for a large user base.
